1-Objective: The purpose of the experiment is to study the behavior of the three types of second order circuits (under-damped, critically-damped, over- damped) and to show how the time constant calculated in each case is affected. 2-Procedure: Characteristic equation: S 2 + 2*α*S + W 0 2 =0 ; W 0= LC / 1 and L R 2 / This second order equation has two solutions S1 and S2: S1= 2 0 2 and S2= 2 0 2 We had R TH = 50Ω and R inductor = 67.70Ω

Case A: Over-Damped R=10 kΩ ; L=0.1H ; C=0.1 µF; W 0= LC / 1 = 10000 L R 2 / = 50000 S1= -1010.205 and S2= -98989.79 Tc1=│1/ S1│= 9.89*10 ^-4 Tc2=│1/ S2│= 1.0102*10 ^-5 = 989 µs = 10.102 µs Tc1> Tc2 t1=5*t2 = 50 µs R eq = 10kΩ+50Ω+67.70Ω= 10117.7Ω

Using the oscilloscope in the lab we took the first point For t1=50µs and we get v(t1)=-0.791V Then the second point t2=438µs and we get v(t2)=-0.464V

The results will be similar if we worked on the oscilloscope used in the multisim.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
