ADOPTION OF COLLABORATIVE TOOLS Adoption of Collaborative Tools 1. How would you describe the research department at Merrill Lynch? Would you feel comfortable in this type of environment? Why or why not? In 2003, the culture in Merrill Lynch’s Research department was stiff. Per Candace Browning “Nobody even said hello” and team members worked in silos. Merrill’s research department was “very hierarchical, with management focused on the senior analysts and on maintaining stature through the II rankings”. Today, the culture in Merrill’s research department is embracing and inclusive. The senior analysts are important; but, there is just as much value placed on the junior analysts and the talent pipeline. Merrill Lynch analysts are being promoted from within, there is an emphasis on organic growth. I would be quite comfortable in the collaborative environment. In my view, the best teams come together from all parts of the world, leveraging diverse perspectives, backgrounds, cultures, and generations to fulfill the vision. In addition, innovation is foundational to company performance. “Diverse teams are more creative, out-innovate and out-perform”

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
