SUBCATEGORIES OF PSYCHOLOGY 3 The first subcategory of psychology I would like to talk about is developmental psychology. Developmental psychology is the scientific study of how and why human beings change over the course of their life. Originally concerned with infants and children, the field has expanded to include adolescence, adult development, aging, and the entire lifespan. As of 8 April 2018 developmental psychologist make a median salary $66,491 per year. There are 88% females and 12% males that work in this career field. Personality psychologists observe social situations in behavior and try to study where aggression and attraction starts and ends. They also examine how humans react in certain social conditions. Personality psychology is the study of how people are different from one another.
