Unformatted text preview: MEMORANDUM TO: FROM: SUBJECT: DATE: INTERESTED PARTIES GEORGE NASSAR—PUBLIC OPINION STRATEGIES KEY FINDINGS— CALIFORNIA’S 45th CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT OCTOBER 18, 2018 Public Opinion Strategies recently completed a telephone survey of likely voters in California’s 45th Congressional District. The survey was conducted October 14‐17, 2018 among 400 likely voters, including 200 interviews with cell phone respondents. The survey has a margin of error of ±4.9%. The memorandum below reviews the key findings of the poll. The survey was sponsored by the National Republican Congressional Committee and Mimi Walters for Congress. 1. Congresswoman Mimi Walters leads Katie Porter with 50% of the vote. Mimi Walters leads Katie Porter 50% to 46%. Since our last survey in September, Walters has consolidated support among Republicans. In September, Walters led among Republicans 74% to 13% and has now expanded her lead to 89%. 2. Congresswoman Walters is viewed more favorably than Porter. Mimi Walter’s image is 46% favorable and 40% unfavorable. Katie Porter’s image is 40% favorable and 42% unfavorable. 3. In the race for Governor, John Cox leads Gavin Newsom in the district.
