Nusrat J Umi March 21, 2019 Eng 116 Essay #2 Feminist criticism is concerned with “the ways in which literature reinforce or undermine the economic, political, social, and psychological oppression of women” (Tyson). This theory looks at how our culture is inherently patriarchal and struggles to reveal males biased writing against women. As a result, many women stood up to fight patriarchy society which gave different roles to each of its members. Some of the main roles were, political, social, productive and reproductive. Women were mainly given the reproductive role which were to raise their children and taking care of the house and their husbands. Susan Glaspell who was a writer in the early twentieth century has lived in that time frame. As an outcome, majority of Glaspell’s Drama criticizes society’s view and behavior toward women. This is appeared through her play "Trifles." Glaspell adds particular details to the play that enabled it to identify and speak up for women. Glaspell uses the characters, the theme, the roles, the conflict and the title to show how
