Running head: SHORTENED TITLE UP TO 50 CHARACTERS 1 Biodiversity Loss Nathan Bailey The loss of wildlife is a major problem all over the world. In America, overcrowding and loss of habitats are major contributing factors. The loss of wildlife in an area effects the local ecosystems and can have many horrible effects on the environment. Apart from the environmental impacts loss of wildlife causes, it also impacts the local hunting and fishing communities. Loss of biodiversity does not only mean wildlife though. Plant life is also affected, plants provide us with the oxygen we need to breathe and help combat soil erosion. Human overpopulation is a major factor in loss of biodiversity. “Growth of the human population is a major factor affecting the environment. Simply put, overpopulation means that there are more people than there are resources to meet their needs. Almost all the environmental problems we face today can be traced back to the increase in population in the world.” (Impacts, 2018) The growth of the population means more land is used.
