If I use the current city I live in I would say feel that I am not in a very violent society as in the one I use to live in. However, that is just comparing El Paso to Detroit not El Paso or even Texas to Iceland which is one of the safest places to live (Institute for Economics & Peace, 2018). We can sit here and blame it on gun violence and start that whole debate however, I think it is much deeper of a problem than that. For example, in 2017 Detroit had a population of 670,792 having 125 murders and 477 rapes whereas El Paso with a population of 688,667 had 6 murders and 207 rapes (FBI.Gov., 2018). So, for every 114,778 people in El Paso, there is a murder. While in Detroit it is 21.39% worse meaning that for every 5,366 people there is a murder. These are just the result of the problem we created as a society. This isn’t something that happened overnight. Things like redlining parts of a city where it would be better for banks to lend money to and deny depending on where in the city you were seeking a loan for (Badger, 2017). This is a problem that is still trying to be fixed even in today’s neighborhoods because

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
