Bailey Piatt English 3 H Period 4 10/26/18 Analyzing The Text 1-7 392 1.) Mr. Torres was a cook in Austin, TX when on one summer day, he received a phone call that his nephew had been shot and killed. With being a former gang member. Torres wanted revenge for the murder, despite his brother’s opinion. I believe the author did this to add more emphasis to the topic and to draw readers in to be more intrigued. 2.) It illustrated that the prevalence and nature of violence is widespread and doesn’t only apply to certain people. They discussed that the violence can range from twelve years-old to adults. Most of the times the violence is made out of revenge because another person felt they have been wronged. It even explains how a CeaseFire colleague has similar thoughts on his two sons, affecting the readers and showing the importance of the group and how they want to mediate groups. 3.) Yes, because the crime rates have significantly decreased over the past couple of years.
