American Imperialism Timeline Information Significant Events: Spanish-American War: - When: April 21st, 1898 - Where: Cuba, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Guam - Why/What: The fight amongst people wanting Cuba to become independent Analysis: - I believe the Spanish-American War was justified due to America combating against Spain, causing renouncement of Cuba and gain of land of Guam and Puerto Rico to America WWYD: - If I were commander in Chief at the time, I’d order the same orders McKinley gave his troops to retaliate against Spain and their stubborness. It really shown America’s true colors as a leading power, taking no back talk from anyone. Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine: - When: In 1904, - Where: State of the Union Address - Why/What: It states that the United States will intervene at any cost with conflicts involving European and Latin American countries to enforce claims of European powers, instead of European countries directly voicing them. Analysis: - I say this is justified due to how relevant and similar it was to the Monroe Doctrine. The United States was simply enforcing their international police power to countries that seem to be a great injustice to America.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
