Tree Terminology General Tree: Tree: A tree has a finite set of nodes. Each node is connected to zero or more nodes by an edge. Each tree has a root node ( e.g. root node is node 0 ) Child: Node x is the child of node y if there is a downward edge between node y and node x . ( e.g. node 2 is a child of node 0 ; node 8 is a child of node 4 ). Not all nodes have children. Parent: Node x is the parent of node y if there is an upward edge between node y and node x . ( e.g. node 3 is the parent of node 6 ; node 0 is the parent of node 3 ). The root is the only node that does not have a parent. Path: A sequence of nodes such that each node is connected to the next one by an edge ( e.g. 0, 1, 4, 7 is a path; 0, 1, 5 is not a path ) Descendants: The descendants of node x are all the nodes on a path starting at node

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
