2 EASTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY COMPARED TO OVC SCHOOLS Abstract Eastern Illinois University was founded in 1895 as a public institution. The 2019 edition of Best Colleges in the Midwest region ranked the Eastern Illinois University as 28 th . The university has enrolled approximately 5,568 undergraduates having a 320 acres campus size. The university is located in Charleston city; this is about 180 miles south of Chicago. The university offers Humanities, business and applied sciences, professional studies among others. On the other hand, OVC abbreviates Ohio Valley Conference schools. The Eastern Illinois University is part of the OVC schools. In this article, we will compare Eastern Illinois University among other Ohio Valley Conference colleges. The OVC is a college athletic conference which is based in the Midwestern and southeastern United States. The OVC participates in Division 1 of the National College Athletic Association (NCAA), this includes Football Championship Subdivisions. The OVC has 12 members, 9 of which compete in football programs at the conference level. The Eastern Illinois University differs from the others in many fronts such as in sport, Academics and cost in terms of fees paid (OVC 2012). The sports department in Eastern Illinois is facing numerous problems. These problems include insufficient infrastructure for training programmes (Jump, 2013).
