There is a special bond that a father has creates with his son. This bond between me and my after has developed to become something truly unique over the time I have spent with him. No words can express how fortunate, privileged and honored I feel to have Papa as my father. Being raised by him has shaped the way I think, act and feel. People may have misconceptions about my thoughts towards my father but I want to make clear that I would not be the man I am today without him. No man is perfect, Papa was a respectable and modest man but he had his own flaws. Papa was a man with principles, especially when it came to Christianity. These values he shared were embraced by my family. Mama, Kambili and I diligently followed these values and I want to make clear that I am foremost: A Christian. At times, when we failed to follow these values Papa would treat us violently. Once, my sister, Kambili was on her period and needed to take a Panadol, although it was almost time for mass, Mama and I let her eat some cereal in order to hold the Panadol. After finding out, Papa was outraged that we desecrated the Eucharistic fast. He punished us by hitting us with his belt. This may have seemed harsh, but they were actions of his love for us. These were the sips of love that burnt our tongues. Painful but of utmost care.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
