1.Is there any additional subjective or objective information you need for this client? Explain.I would ask Mr. JD if he has been taking any medications to relieve his symptoms?I would ask about his normal medication regimen, medical, surgical and familial history. I would ask his social history, mostly importantly if he smokes. According to the Mayo Clinic (2017), “You're more likely to catch a cold and to have more severecolds if you smoke.” I would ask about his symptoms more in depth and see if he had experienced any shortness of breath or wheezing, sore throat or earache? 2.Would you treat Mr. JDs cold? Why or why not?I would treat Mr. JD’s cold because it has persisted for 2 weeks and has had an increased temperature for 2 days. Most likely Mr. JD had a common cold, caused by a virus, which turned into or was complicated by a bacterial sinus infection. Common colds usually resolve within 10-14 days. “Antibiotics are of no use against cold viruses and shouldn't be used unless there's a bacterial infection.” ("Mayo Clinic," 2017, para. 8)
