Lauren Lopes Faculty Debts Shelley Stahl Math 1020Q In this problem, you are asked to find the 5 debts that are owed to the accountant. The accountant knows that 4 of the debts add to 12 and multiply to equal the mathematician’s debt. The mathematician knows his own debt, but that isn’t enough to determine the other four debts until the accountant states that the statistician owes the least. The first step to solve this problem is to list all possible combinations of 4 numbers that add to 12 and then determine each of the combinations’ products. This is because we know that the 4 debts will add to 12 and multiply to the mathematician’s debt. I found that there were 15 total combinations of 4 whole numbers that added to 12. I knew to start with 1 as the lowest number in any combination and not 0, since every person owes some debt. Now that I had all 15 combinations, I then had to find the sets of different combinations that multiplied to the same product. I had to do this because this product is

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
