Within Alexander Evans’ executive summary about the political and economic policies in South Asia, it is apparent that there are neoliberal inclinations regarding economics, international trade, political policies, and how global actors interact with one another. Neoliberalism takes a laissez- faire approach to international economics and trade relations, meaning that the economy should operate openly with minimum government intervention to promote a free operations system where it functions according to its own governance and regulations. This aspect of neoliberalism is prevalent within Alexander’s summary when he discusses the contemporary economic vision of South Asia that is underway, “The advancement of economic and political development in Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka will depend in large part on the success of efforts to foster greater interconnectivity among economies in South Asia and throughout Asia.” This is prominent again in the article specifically when Alexander references a quote from
