In the article they express that “ The case name is Genie. This is not the person's real name, but when we think about what a genie is, a genie is a creature that comes out of a bottle or whatever but emerges into human society past childhood.” (Cherry 2019) Genie spent most of her life in a small room tied to a potty chair. She was abused by both parents, especially her father. If Genie would make a sound or try to speak her father would abuse her causing Genie to have multiple problems growing up.
