Chemical Thinking P2 S3 Preparatory Work v1.0 | 1 Project 2 Session 3 Preparatory Work Write an initial plan to quantitate the FD&C food dye(s) present in your assigned commercial candy sample. That is, devise a strategy and write out a procedure in outline form to isolate and quantify the amount (grams) of each food dye present per gram of candy. 1. In order to quantify the amount of food dye in the candy, we must first weigh the  candy. 2. Then, we need to measure out 1 gram of that candy and remove it from the rest of the  candy. Next, we will extract the dye by using the funnel filtration system and  following it up with the syringe/gravity technique. This will ensure that the dye is  accurately presented without particulate matter present.  3. Make sure to weigh the mass and volume again to ensure an accurate 1 gram of  substance. Now, we will place 1 ml of water into a cuvette and blank out the  spectrometer.  4.
