In this case, businesses aim at increasing their sales volume by improving the quality of their products. However, there are other elements that consumers look at when they choose a certain brand. One of them is corporate social responsibility (CSR). Many people are interested in businesses which value the community by taking part in important projects such as environmental conservation. Most consumers are prioritizing CSR, holding corporations accountable for affecting social change with their business beliefs, practices and profits. In some cases, some customers can turn their back on their most preferred companies when they learn that those businesses are not supporting societal and environmental matters. Corporate responsibility is a strategy by companies to take responsibility for the social and environmental impacts of their business operations. In this case, they must make sure that their operations do not have a negative influence to the environment. Starbucks is one of the corporations that have corporate social responsibility program, and it drafts an annual sustainability report to its stakeholders. It is an American coffee company and coffeehouse chain. It was founded in Seattle, Washington in 1971, and it currently operates in about 28, 200 locations across the globe. Customers distinguish Starbucks from other coffee- serving avenues in the U.S. by taste, quality, and consumer experience. It specializes in darkly roasted coffee, and its primary target are the quality-minded coffee drinkers with hand-made coffee based on lighter roasts (). In most of its outlets, the company serves hot and cold drinks, whole-bean coffee, micro ground instant coffee, and iced coffee among others. does not have a major threat in terms of competition, the corporation still maintain its high quality, and consumers value it for that purpose. The company has a social responsibility strategy that is based on community, ethical sourcing, and the environment. Through the process of noble work, companies not only help their community, but they also reap a lot of benefits. One of the major advantage of practicing CSR is engaged employees.
