MOTIVATION The complexity of the concept is to led the psychologist to develop a variety of approaches Is the process of activating behavior, sustaining and directing it toward a particular goal. The word motivation comes from the Latin word motivus” which means moving.

THE MOTIVATIONAL CYCLE The process of motivation starts with: 1. Some motivation state that impels the person toward some goal. 2. Behavior displayed in striving the goal. 3. Realization or achievement of the goal. 4. Satisfaction. MOTIVE SAISFACTION INSTRUMENTAL BEHAVIOR GOAL

OTHER TERMS USED IN THE STUDY OF MOTIVATION: o Drive : a physiological condition which impels an organism to become active. o Tendency : tendency implies persistence. It continues the direction of an activity even though the environmental stimuli may vary. o Motive: something that incites the organism to action or that sustains and gives direction to action once the o Goal : Refers to the substance, object or situation capable of satisfying a need and toward which motivated behavior is directed. o Need : Is a lack of something for survival, health and well being of the individual

Kinds of Motives Motives - classified by many psychologist into psychological, biological or survival, social or psychological and eco – integrative motives. A. PSYCHOLOGICAL MOTIVES - motive that are directly related to the normal body functions such as need for air, food, water, etc.
