(Lk. 22:7-‐13) THURSDAY: THE CELEBRATION Events Preceding The Lord’s Supper 1 - The Love 2 - The Desire 1Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that 14And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve 3 - The Dispute 4 - The Gentle Rebuke his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end (Jn. 13:1). 24And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest (Lk.22:24). 5 - The Promise 28Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations. 29And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; 30That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel (Lk.22:28-‐30). 7 - The Announcement 21And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me (Mt. 26:21). 9 - The Answer apostles with him. 15And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: 16For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulRilled in the kingdom of God. (Lk.22:14-‐16) 25And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. 26But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. (Lk.22:25-‐26) 6 - The Example 3Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; 4He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. 5After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. (Jn. 13:3-‐5) 8 - The Question 22Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake. 23Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved. 24Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake. 25He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it? (Jn. 13:22-‐25) 10 - The Traitor 6Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I 2And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him; 27And Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. (Jn. 13:26). after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest; do quickly. 28Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him. 29For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor. 30He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
