Mitosis and Meiosis Lab Handout Part 1: Understanding Cell Division in Eukaryotes (See power point presentation and hyperlinks provided) Living organisms as well as the cells that compose tissues are capable of reproduction and growth. Cell division is the mechanism by which new cells are produced, whether for growth, repair, replacement, or forming new organisms. Cell division is the biological process by which cellular and nuclear materials of somatic cells (non-sex cells) are divided between two daughter cells formed from an original parent cell. Mitosis is recognized as a major component of the overall process of cell division. Cell division in eukaryotes is part of the cell cycle and the cell cycle includes two components: interphase and mitosis. 1. Watch the following video on a crash course in mitosis . 2. Complete the mitosis virtual lab . There are no questions to go along with this virtual lab however use this virtual lab to help you answer the questions in #3.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
