MOTOR CONTROL 2 Sensory Components of Motor Control Discuss three methods researchers have used to investigate the role of proprioception in motor control and what the results of that research have told us about two roles of proprioception in the control of movement. The most important source of feedback is the proprioception part of motor control. Whether the action in control is open-loop or closed-loop, our proprioceptive information will give us feedback in order to better the action either for the next repetition or even during the movement itself. Due to the huge responsibility that proprioception has when it comes to controlling our movement, researchers have developed many different techniques in order to study everything. There are three specific techniques that are discussed by Anderson and Magill. Two of the three techniques that are used include observations of movement after deafferentation occurs, meaning that the proprioceptive afferent pathways that lead to the central nervous are actually not available. Lastly, the third technique that is used includes the study of the individual’s movement while the muscle’s tendon that is involved in the movement control is vibrated. This then leads to the distortion of the proprioceptive feedback that we receive

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
