THEORY AND APN ROLE DISCUSSION PART TWO 2 Theory and APN Role Discussion Part Two It is normal that Karen is still not convinced that Theory has no place in the APN practice. On one side, APN practice is bound by many theories that are broad and are not easily applicable. As a Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP), Karen is bound to monitor the health status of patients and ensure to improve the health outcomes of the patient y applying some theories in her practicum. One of the theories to consider for a CNP is the Self-Care Deficit Theory, which is described by Seed, & Torkelson, (2012) as a model which nurses must follow if they deal with patients who may or may not be able to care for themselves. The Self-Care Deficit Theory is based on three important concepts: the theory of self-care, nursing system and self-care deficit.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
