The CEO of the Company, Lorenzo Zambrano developed the vision for CEMEX with the primary motive of transforming the company into a multinational cement producer despite the high competition they would face in the industry from large players such as MNC. The strategy to be used in achieving the vision was first to maximize their potential in Mexico and become the best regional cement producer in the country, then expand nationally and globally. According to Daspit, Chrisman, Sharma, Pearson, and Long, (2017, p.6), such a strategy presents the opportunity for developing a solid base for the organization before engaging in international operations, thus giving it more sustainability. Therefore, the approach taken to achieve CEMEX’s vision was strategically planned and would be effective in its course.
