ACCOUNTING INFORMATION SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS 2 Accounting Information System Requirements The purpose of an accounting information system is to gather, store, manage, process, retrieve, and report financial data ("Investopedia", 2014). In the planning and investigation phase a team is formed to study any current accounting information system. The team needs to be sure the system meets all of the users needs and is flexible. In the analysis phase, the accounting information system should be scrutinized to identify closely the general objectives, top management objectives, and the objectives of the operating management. What are the objectives and business requirements? In the design phase, of the accounting information system requirements are to design the input, output, and processing requirements within the system. Of what kind of data and business processes?
