Torture is and will always be a hot button topic for most Americans. Although, we all have our own opinion on the ethical reasoning behind whether torture is right or wrong, there is always room for debate. In the article, “The Case of Torture,” by Micheal Levin, Levin advocates for torture and plays on the readers emotion in his effort to persuade. Visa versa, in the article “The Case Against Torture,” the author Alisa Solomon uses facts and evidence to show that torture has never worked in the past. Again, whether right or wrong, we can always appreciate ones attempt at rhetorical persuasion and point of view. Let’s take a further look at each article. Levin’s article “The Case Against Torture,” starts out immediately getting the reader to place themselves in a very serious situation. “ Suppose a terrorist has hidden an atomic bomb on Manhattan Island which will detonate at noon on July 4 unless ... here follow the usual demands for money and release of his friends from jail. Suppose, further, that he is caught at 10 a.m. on
