Mark Nichols ENGL 1310.007 Career Goals Throughout the course of my life, I have wanted to be many things. Gutter installation specialist, the obligatory police officer, space man, and the uncommon wish to be a pediatrician. After all of this, I have decided on the profession that I feel I will strive towards throughout these college years. I plan to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in History, get my Masters, and work on a Ph.D. in History in hopes of becoming a college history professor. After so many changes in my career goals, I have decided upon History for quite a few reasons. One is my sophomore history teacher. Mr. Charles Hughes taught me that history is about more than learning facts and memorizing dates and names. All my life, through all the boring history classes, I loved learning about my past. It has always amazed me how people lived in the days before I was around. My whole family has always been interested in history. I am the only one to do anything with it. My father is retired and my mother is vice-president of a worker’s compensation insurance company. I want to do something that I love to do. I don’t want to sit at a desk all day long doing something I hate. Throughout everyone’s life, they want to be many different things.
