Proposal California is a dry state and naturally it has droughts often. California accounts for 17.3% of U.S agricultural output. In 2014 it was recorded that approximately 1.85 billion pounds of almonds were produced in California.. One almond requires 1.1 gallons of water and 99% of almonds in U.S come from California. Our proposal is to stop production of almonds in california because it requires 1.21•10^12 billion gallons of water. Plan At the moment California has approximately 19 trillion gallons of water. The production of one pound of almonds is 303.3 gallons of water. Our plan is to stop crops of almonds. When it comes to conserving water there's no right or wrong way because in the end someone will be negatively impacted. After extensive research on almonds we agreed that in order to conserve water farmers who have almond crops could instead grow a different type of produce. California is a state that constantly faces droughts and almonds trees need to be watered even when they’re not growing almonds.
