Defunding of Planned Parenthood Background General Women's Healthcare The United States became involved in World War II. Because of the war men were being drafted off to war, because of this woman were given the opportunity to join the workforce. During the 1940 very, little was known about the female reproductive system and therefore women had no other option, but to have many children or terminate the pregnancies with dangerous techniques During childbirth midwives were present and physicians didn’t take interest in understanding the women reproductive system (Women, Power, and Reproductive Healthcare.) Women had to advocate for their right to have access to health care; because women’s health wasn’t something that was necessary being studied in earlier times very little was known about the female reproductive system. History of Planned Parenthood One of the first clinics to be recognized as a clinic that provides services in abortion and helping women decide what to do with their pregnancies; was the first Planned Parenthood which was established in 1916. This revolution women’s health and the reproductive system was now
being further studied by scientist. Women had to advocate for the right to have access to these clinics.
