Running head: TEXAS STATE CONSTITUTION 1 Texas State Constitution The Texas constitution has its major strengths and weaknesses that impact certain problems presented in the state. The constitution, known as one of the most amended constitutions in the states, carries restrictions that limit government involvement. With the document’s positive and negative impacts, a constitution is still necessary to handle the problems that surface in Texas. The current Texas State constitution major strengths embrace their individual freedom. The constitution gathers many ideas from the US constitution; nonetheless, the Texas constitution values the voice of the people, popular sovereignty. Because Texas values freedom, the Texas state strictly limits its government and references the US Constitution with “We the people” (Lone Star Politics p. 40-41). Thus, the documents positive impact is its firm hold to enforce the idea of individuality for the rights of the people of Texas. Nevertheless, the Texas constitution also falls into a great list of weaknesses placed in the document.
