Compared to other states, the Texas governors have a less formal power in the states. The Texas governor’s power has struggled in change from the legislative and executive branch debates about the meaning of the line item veto. A Texas governor challenged the definition of the veto line, which has shifted the future Texas governor’s powers. Even though there are still limitations that restrict governors, the veto power has increased for the stategovernors. The most important tool the governor can influence on the legislation process is the veto power.
