Yue Liu 03/11/19 MUS 307 Journal 6  This is the first opera we watched with a tragic ending. The background of  Lucia di  Lammermoor  was set in Scotland in the end of the 17th century. The story concerns the Lucia  who is emotionally fragile and caught in a feud between two families. The arias of Lucia reflect  her courageous and determined love, they also reflect her change in despair in the process of life  struggle. There are also a lot of tricks in the aria, such as: portamento, fast sentences, skipping,  fast vibrato, and echo. In the second act of the first act of the opera, with the harp playing, Lucia’s debut  appeared to be fresh and elegant. Many viewers had a deep affection for this scene and liked this  character. However, in the scene where Lucia was seeing a ghost, we could tell that she was a  very sensitive person, and her pursuit of affection was above everything else. In particular, the
