2017 PHYSICS 11 Mr. Walzl Welcome to grade 11 Physics. The intention of this course will be to introduce you to a wide range of topics studied in the field of Physics. The course is designed to peak students interest in Physics while teaching them fundamental concepts and skills necessary to understand more advanced topics in Physics and other sciences. Text The textbook for this course is Physics Principles and Problems by Merrill (red cover). We will not use the textbook in class; however, you may sign-out a copy at the library if you wish . Your best resource outside the classroom is online video tutorials such as the ones produced at Khan Academy . Most learning in this course will come from activities and lessons in the classroom as well as handouts, worksheets, and other material will be distributed to students. Materials Students are expected to bring the following items to each class: 3-ring binder containing class notes, extra lined paper, pens, pencils , eraser, ruler , and a calculator. Evaluation You will be evaluated through a series of assignments, labs, quizzes, tests and an exam that will be weighted in the following way: Term marks : Assignments 10% Labs 15% Quizzes 15% Tests 30% Final exam 30%
