Berfin Tasasız 10-B Mr.Doty 25.09.2017 Books in Review When you read two stories do you ever notice that some topics are similar or different? In ‘The Village’ which is written by M. Night Shyalaman and ‘ The Giver’ also which is written by Louis Lowry, there are similarities and differences in terms of colors, families and themes. The use of colors in both book is really important. Certain colors have been used for different purposes and have become symbols of some situations in both books. Firstly, in The Village everything is colorful and people can see and distinguish colors. Additionally, everything in the book with red color is bad and everything with yellow color is safe. However, elders use color red to attract monsters and make people scared of it. On the other hand, in The Giver, everything is black and white. People can not see all colors except the Giver (Jonas). As a result, there are no similarities between the two books about colors.
