1 Anne Murtha Instructor: Keith Graham IHP-450 Healthcare Management and Finance 1-2 Reflective Journal: Financial Management Measures According to (Nowicki, 2015) the purpose of financial measurement is to run healthcare organizations efficiently and profitably. The responsibility of monitoring a healthcare organization’s profitability falls with the healthcare organization’s financial manager. The financial manager will monitor the healthcare organization by reviewing various types of measurements. Also as per ( Nowicki, 2015), the most common healthcare measurements are admissions, average daily census, average length of stay, and occupancy rate. The admissions, which is the number of patients admitted for inpatient service. The two decisions that might be impacted by the monitoring of patient admissions are; which patient to admit and the costs associated with their procedures. The average daily census, which is the average of patients that are getting daily care during a specified period of time. The two decisions that might be impacted by the
