WEEK 5 – FINAL PAPER: REFLECTIVE PAPER 2For both small and large conglomerates, the HR department is considered one of their most important assets. Their roles have expanded past administrative functions such as managingpayroll and dispensing information regarding employee health benefits. “The primary function ofhuman resource management is to increase the effectiveness and contribution of employees in the attainment of organizational goals and objectives.” Thus, it is safe to say that an organization is only as good as its personnel, and HRM is responsible for constructing and sustaining a strong and efficient team. Via recruiting, training, and planning human resources personnel can significantly impact the success of an establishment. This paper aims to discuss the various areas of HRM which are EEO and Affirmative Action, Human resources planning, recruitment, and selection, Human resources development, Compensation and benefits, Safety and Health, and Employee and labor relations and how these aspects work together for HR to perform that primary function. Additionally, it will discuss whether any aspects can be considered more important than the others. Moreover, it will discuss whether the HRM role can be optimized for shaping organizational and employee behavior. Human resources planning, recruitment, and selection.Human resource planning can be defined as the “process that identifies current and future human resources needs for an organization to achieve its goals. HRP is the ongoing process of systematic planning to achieve the best use of an organization’s most valuable asset – its human resources. It concentrates on the basic economic concept of demand and supply in context to the human resource capacity of the organization” (Tung, 2016). Human resource planning aims to assure the best fit between employees and jobs, while evading workforce deficiencies or releases. Furthermore, the managerial branch can only initiate

HRP is vital for the successful achievement of the tactics and aims of a business. Thus, HRP should serve as the linkage between human resource management and the overall strategic plan of an organization. “The planning processes of most best practice organizations not only define what will be accomplished within a given time-frame, but also the numbers and types of human resources that will be needed to achieve the defined business goals (e.g., number of human resources; the required competencies; when the resources will be needed; etc.).
