Louis Pasteur said, “The role of the infinitely small in nature is infinitely large.” Explain what he meant, using examples of the roles of microorganisms in health, industry, and the environment. The statement made by Pasteur refers to a microorganisms size and its large impact on the world. The study of microbiology surrounds microscopic life, organisms so small that specialized lenses or machines are needed to visualize them. The microorganisms in the world play an important part not only in our everyday life, but also keeping things in balance throughout the ecosystem. 1. Describe the role of Microorganisms in human health, give an example Bacteria live naturally in the human body, although bacteria can cause a variety of diseases there are several different types serve to protect us. Intestinal microbes, residing in the intestines compete with other microbes in what’s called microbial antagonism.
