Chapter 1 Some people consider Leeuwenhoek the “father of microbiology”, Explain what this moniker makes sense Antoni van Leeuwenhoek was a Dutch scientist that first discovered the microbial world by observing it through a specialized lens that he created. He started off as a tailor that wanted to observe the quality of cloth but instead of buying a standard magnifying glass, he sought out to learn and create his own. He began to become fascinated with the with objects magnified and started to observe different objects through his specialized lenses, by doing so he was able to observe the first sign of life on a microbial level. He first reported the presence of what we now call “protozoa”, which he reported his findings to the Royal Society of London in 1674. The moniker given to him as “the father of microbiology” makes sense because without his findings there would be no telling when or if the microbial would be discovered. It can be said that today, all forms of modern medicine can be traced back to his findings

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
