Kalli Rohloff Bhatia LSC 348 Fundamentals of Genetics Lab 11/12/2018 What Enables Drosophila Wingless Flight Abstract: Drosophila melanogaster, better known as the common fruit fly, is the most commonly used specimen that is used in laboratory experiments to learn about inheritance. They are used to learn about inheritance since they possess such versatile qualities. One quality is that they can genetically modified. A second quality is they have a short reproduction cycle. A third quality is they have a similar genome to humans. Two crosses were done in this experiment. Crosses were done between mutant male flies and female wildtype virgins. These crosses were done to test Mendelian inheritance. We hypothesized that the F2 generation of Drosophila would follow Mendelian inheritance. We also hypothesized that the ratio of genotypes would be calculated to be 9:3:3:1. The first cross was between female wildtype virgins and sepia eye/vestigial winged male

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
