RANDI KIRK DISCUSSION TWO POST Identifying Ways to Succeed Online Planning To me, in theory, it seems a little silly to have to think about being online and scheduling a time for school. But when you really look at it, it is a difficult process. I always find a million other things to do than to sit down and go to school. Being very organized and writing it in my schedule is the most helpful way that I can make sure I succeed. I plan a menu, outsource time consuming housekeeping to a cleaning company, I order my groceries online and pick them up (2017a). I have also gone PRN at my work to make sure I have enough time for these classes. Even with these major helps, I still need to make sure I have a time that is set just for school. Otherwise, I find things that need to be done such as pay bills, reorganize something, or do something that adds to procrastination of homework. Time Management I like having a monotonous schedule, but it takes a few weeks when I add something new to getting it in sync with the rest of my life. I depend on my planner daily. Having to say no to certain things is a must so that time may be effectively managed. I am used to not having a life while in nursing school. Making sure I keep the end in sight will help me through this time (2017b). Communication The area that I have some issues with is communications with others in the classroom. I tend to want to just do my work and not interact very much. I plan on making changes in this program because I want to make lasting connections and network thoroughly. I plan on being more available to my classmates and logging on even when I do not have any homework to do. Making sure to identify key personnel is another way I can set myself up for success (2017b). Knowing where to go when certain things happen is vital in online learning.
Technology As far as technology use, I have a newer computer. I am praying it gets me through the next couple of years! It seems computers are outdated before you can even get them home anymore. I have made friends with a local IT lady and have already used her for my computer needs. In the event things go south in the computer world, I have a laptop for backup. I also have an IPad and a local library (2017b). I will be saving all my
