OBJECTIVE In this lab we want to investigate the effect of inclination angle on the rigid body. Also the relationship between the normal force,N against inclination angle. INTRODUCTION A rigid body is a solid body in which deformation is zero or so small it can be neglected. The distance between any two given points on a rigid body remains constant in time regardless of external forces exerted on it. And this rigid body is subjected to an external forces and couple moment system that is the result of the effects of gravitational, electrical, magnetic or contract forces caused by adjacent bodies. By using the consequences of Newton’s Third Law the forces occur in equal but opposite collinear pairs and hence will cancel out. By using the equation of equilibrium which is 𝐹 ? = 0 , 𝐹 ? = 0 , ? = 0 When applying the equations of equilibrium, we will assume that the body remain rigid. In reality all the bodies deform when subjected loads. Although this is the case most engineering materials such as steel and concrete are very rigid so their deformation is usually very small. Therefore,when applying the equation of equilibrium we can generally assume that the body will remain rigid and not deform under applied load without introducing any significant error. Also by applying the Newton’s Second Law, 𝐹 = ??
