Calorimetry Objective: The calorimeter constant for a coffee-cup calorimeter will be determined, and then the calorimeter will be used to measure the amount of the energy heat that flows in many physical and chemical process. Lab Summary of procedures: For choice I. Obtain two clean coffee cups throughout this procedure. It will be used as the calorimeter in this experiment. Use a lid to surround the coffee cups but it needs to fit tight so it can go well in this procedure. Make a hole near the center of the lid for the thermometer go through to receive the temperature throughout the experiment and another to the side for the stirring rod. Assemble the stirring rod and the thermometer to perform the experiment. While everything is assemble on the side there should be already a beaker of distilled water with a lot of ice chips to be an certain freezing point. Measure with a graduated cylinder 50 grams of volume of cold water into the calorimeter and begin to sir with the stirring rod. Cover the calorimeter with in the thermometer/ stirring rod. ### What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

Dana University of Pennsylvania ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
