Mary Barra faces the most thrilling adventures of her life after she was named the GM’s CEO, she is adamant about changing GM for the better. Terminations of people linked to the ignition switch outrage, the appointment of a new Vice President and hiring of external investigators to look into the problem. Mary comprehends that defining and solving the problem is critical, but again similarly essential is how she handle the situation. Ms. Barra seems to understand that the organization is faced with many business uncertainties e.g. bankruptcy, cultural management issues and poor communication. The letter to her workers indicating firmly the vision she has for the company, “Our Company’s reputation won’t be determined by the recall itself, but how we address the problem going forward.” She doesn’t seem to be heeding her own opinion instead incorporating other stakeholders alternatively she uses media, government, and customers in order to revive the glory of the organization.
