Breanna Robinson The Glass Castle Book Critic Paragraph The Glass Castle written by Jeanette Walls tells the true story about her upbringing, which follows her bipolar mother, alcoholic father, her two sisters and brother. The father, Rex was a charismatic, brilliant man who, when sober, captured his children's imagination, teaching them physics, geology, and above all, how to embrace life as an adventure. Rose Mary, painted and wrote but couldn't understand the responsibility of providing for her family. Later, when the money ran out and the excitement of belonging to no town life began to fade, the Walls decided to go to the dismal West Virginia mining town where they thought they could do well but nothing changed and her father had done everything he could to escape.
