ENG 101/197 Title Being black I grew up learning about race and racial issues. I’ve heard plenty of stories about black people being victimized because of their race, learned about it in school, read about it, and seen it on the television. Personally, I’ve never experienced nor witnessed these actions. In Mebane, she witnessed the tension between the bus driver and the man. During the time of her incident that type of thing was normal, people say times haven’t changed as much when it comes to race but oh how they have drastically changed. I’ve been on this earth for 20 years and I’d say I’ve lived a pretty normal day to day life. A lot of people may not know, or refuse to believe that Chicago is a very segregated city. I grew up in a predominantly black neighborhood, there were little to no white people in my neighborhood but it wasn’t your average black neighborhood. It was what society would call “middle class” so I was raised different than most people. Of course, I was always educated on
