Instructions 1. Attempt five questions, two from Section A, two from Section B and one from Section C. 2. You are provided with five AL(D) answer books. Use a separate answer book for each question. Put the question number on the front cover of each answer book. 3. Section A carries a total of 40 marks, Section B 40 marks and Section C 20 marks. 4. 2001-AL-BIO 2 - 2 - 1 - Section A Answer TWO questions. Use a separate answer book for each question. 1. (a) In humans, sensory receptors convert stimuli into nervous signals. This process is called transduction. State the exact location inside the ear where transduction occurs when a man rotates his head. Use a flow chart to show the sequence of events starting from the rotation of the head to the end of the transduction process. (6 marks) (b) The structural features of a neurone can affect the rate of nervous impulse conduction along the nerve fibre. State and explain one of these features.
