MEDIA IN THE USA 2 Media in the US Introduction Bertrand defines media as the means of mass communication that occurs via a number of ways which include broadcasting, publication and printing and electronic media ( Bertrand, 2018) . USA one of the oldest countries and a state which is fully advanced in all dimensions also heavily relies on media as in reaching its wide audience through the common forms of media which are printing, publication and broadcasting. Below is a research on the history, impacts, effects and emerging issues that results from media issue in the USA History of Media in the USA The US media commonly referred to as the Fourth Estate was created by the constitution. Fourth Estate is an appellation which suggests that the press shares an equal standing with other arms of the government. The major and the significant role played by the Fourth Estate in the US is that of remaining the Guardians of democracy at all times ( Cha et al, 2016) . It is a role that was enforced as a result of the first amendment of the American constitution which dates back to the year 1789. The amendments were clearly stipulating that there is no abridging of the freedom of the press by the Congress. Since the publishing of the first newspaper in Boston, Massachusetts in 1690, the US media has really traveled a long journey. In a span of 50 years since their first published, the magazine also began streaming in in the big cities of America ( Strom, 2016) . However, the print monopoly of the media in the US was ceased due to the emergence of the commercial radio at the start of the 20th century. The emergence of the commercial radio offered the American

Shortly after the Second World War two, televisions emerged to be more powerful than these other two existing media platforms. The existence of the satellite in the US has equipped them with a capacity of propagating the television waves via cables to the entire globe. Digital technology and the rapid advancement in the telephone and computer technologies in the 21st century has led to digital and customized media ways. Despite the invention of all these kinds of media in the US print and electronic media have remained the most common one of all times ( McCombs, 2018) . Nature of the USA audience USA one of the oldest states has got one of the most literate citizens in the world. Their literacy is approximated to be around 97 percent. These citizens as well enjoy the highest capital per income. This, therefore, makes them eligible to consume large volumes of capital in the media via all forms available. Access to the media forms to the USA citizens has never and will never be a challenge in terms of capital at all times ( Strom, 2016) . The dominating language among the US citizens is English. However, there are some other minor foreign language speakers who speak Spanish and French in some smaller states in the US. The dominance of
