Andrade 1 Adriana Andrade M. Macdonald ENG102 28 March 2018 Cats, Cowboys, Commercials Year after year, companies try to come up with the best commercial to be shown during Super Bowl seemingly for the sole purpose to entertain the audience during breaks like the performer does during halftime. For those who watch these commercials, do the ads actually do their job of enticing someone to go out and buy a product or solicit the help of a company? For many people, when a commercial comes on it serves as a cue to skip over them, switch to a different channel, get on the phone, or get up and wait for the show to come back on. This disinterest in advertisement might stem in how after years of commercials, they seem to lump together and seem relatively dull. For a commercial to resonate with its audience, its message should to be clear, it should be creative, and state the company behind the commercial. One of the many commercials shown during Super bowl 2000 was Herding Cats by Electronic Data Systems or eds.com. The add consists of a variety of buff looking man, of different ages and apparent races, talking about the long hours and substantial injuries they suffer daily from herding cats. In the last few seconds, a sign pops up saying that herding cats are sort of like what eds.com does with bringing information together (Electronic). This commercial did its Superbowl job of being entertaining, but it did not do its role as an advertisement to bring in new revenue, which could have contributed to the end of the Electronic Data Systems company.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
