Chapter 3: Systems Documentation Techniques Documentation: explain how the system works, such as who, when, what, why, data entry, processing data, data storage, control of systems, the output of system. Documentation tools: Flow chart, DFD, and business process program. DFD (Data flow diagram): diagram that depict the data source, data process, data storage, data flow and data destinations. DFD consists of, data flow, data source/ destination (Entity), data processing, data storage, and control (internal). Context diagram: the highest level of DFD, which shows the data system view where the source or destination (Input), the processing data and the output. Note: Context diagram doesn’t show the data storage. Context diagram, require at least one input, process and output. The processing data can’t go to another processing entity. Flow chart: Technique that describe how the system works in a concise way by represent everything in symbols. It explains in an aspect as who, what, when and how (logical and physical test).
