Developmental Psych - Forum drafts.docx - My reaction to...

This preview shows page 1 out of 1 page.

My reaction to the video clips of Genie’s story were in the beginning pure astonishment and horror. Just to think that anyone was treated so poorly, in solitary confinement at all, nevermind their entire lives up to the age of fourteen is unbelievable and angering. My thoughts did, however, take a turn for the better when I discovered she was being properly cared for and interacted with once removed from the detrimental environment created by her so called family/parentals. I was once again angered in the end to find that she was handed over to her parents, to be then bounced around and dropped into a unknown location in L.A. where god knows how she is doing today. I had never heard of such an atrocity. This eats at me not knowing whether she finally was able to reach a breakthrough in her inability to understand language and sentences rather than just single words and other vocabulary. Was she able to get the help she needed from the place she ended up in? Or was the way she was brought up from the start truly

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
